The label celebrates its anniversary with a double compilation album containing foundlings, songs that never fitted on an album but were lying around in a digital form somewhere on a disk or harddrive. 27 Of them were recovered and compiled on two elpees. You will find many names that you could have found on this blog over the years.
I always have a lot of trouble finding the right words for a compilation album with various artists on it and I'm not going to try and find them today. For that the songs are too different and it's impossible to do everyone right. When you look at the tracklist you will find I Am Oak, in which Breuer played bass for years, Toby Goodshank, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, Astral Swans, Queen of the Meadow and Breuer's own band The World of Dust among the artists present on the compilation and many, many more.
Some of the songs are a bit esoteric but for others I can only imagine that it was because of having to make hard choices on what can be on the album and then sort of forget about the song later. Believe me, the compilation is very much worthwhile getting to know. As most people know, leftovers often taste better the next day after reheating. Foundlings vol. 1 & 2 proves that the same goes for songs left over.
