OH, YEAH!!!!
If the life of a reviewer was only that simple, because these two as such nonsensical words tell it all. Picking A Fight holds a ball of energy that is tossed into my room, making my brain dance while sitting down, musing what to write.
Justine and the Unclean debuted on this blog with another single that had the exact same impact on me. 'This System Is Set To Self Destruct' has been replaced by 'Picking A Fight'.
From the very first chords Justine and her uncouth partners in crime mean business. Punkrock is revived as if there was and is no tomorrow. This is about the here and now. "All I care about is picking a fight. Tonight". A song cannot be more about the here and now, can it? No matter what the reason for the fight is, it is no longer relevant. The fight will be here. Right now. The punches fly round in the short aggressive break. The fiery guitar solo leaves no doubt about who won. "Hey Hey Hey", the band sings in the final chorus, cheering Justine onwards.
'Heartaches And Hot Problems', the mini album the band released, made it to my favourite 100 records of the 10s. 31 December 2029 is a long, long way off, but it would be really weird if the upcoming Justine and the Unclean album will not be longlisted.
Like me, the band members are all of a certain age. The picture on the cover more a nice memory, just like a picture a friend sent me recently from over 30 years ago. Things change. Good music does not. Let that be one of the strongpoints of Justine and the Unclean.
Oh, YEAH!!!
Wo.
