That is what Kerri Watt's album title did with me. Only because the music sort of grabbed me by the lapels. The album starts with Ms. Watt in the roll of a stark rock chick with a band that is truly rocking away. 'All The Worse For Me' is tough, loud and quite unsubtle with its pounding rhythm. It sets an expectation for Neptune's Daughter that is not fully delivered upon. Reading up a little on Kerri Watt and the album this is not surprising.
Kerri Watt, from Glasgow in Scotland, usually works within the Americana range of music but on Neptune's Daughter works with rock producer Machine, a.k.a. Gene Freeman, from Texas. The result is a hybrid album, where the mood swings from tough rock to tough pop. In the album's extra's the songs are stripped to the acoustic essentials as well.
The result is some songs that I truly like and some songs that may compete with the tougher songs of Pink and Katy Perry but not with my fashion. Those songs may land occasionally, when my mood is like it. That is not that often.

In general I can state that the collaboration between Watt and Machine worked out well. Perhaps not all the songs agree fully with me, Kerri Watt is at ease in this pop-rock idiom. Her voice has the power without having to overdo it for one second. It's far from hard for her to take on this guise, if this isn't her after all. All in all, I'm giving Neptune's Daughter the benefit of the doubt.
This album was ready in 2018. Whatever took it this long to release, I can't tell. It's here. Enjoy it!
