Wild And Clear And Blue. I'm With Her

So we've had boygenius and now we have I'm With Her, except that the latter trio has already released a record some time before the pandemic, called 'See You Around'. I missed that one, but not Wild And Clear And Blue.

I'm With Her is singer/songwriters Sarah Jarosz, Aoife O’Donovan, and Sara Watkins. All three can be found on this blog, except that only Jarosz has been covered by yours truly. Her music is the most to my taste. Together though they sing the stars out of heaven, as we say over here.

And that is what I want to get across to you. Just listen how the voices of the three singers blend. It stopped me in my tracks, making me only want to listen. I'm With Her's music is somewhere in between singer-songwriter, folk and country. And there's these elements that make it sound just a little less traditional. You can discover them by listening seriously to the well crafted and arranged songs. There may even be a rough little edge here and there, in what is mostly a sweet sounding album, aiming for perfection.

Besides the singing, it is clear that the three are very accomplished musicians as well. There is a lot to discover in all songs, as this is not a one size fits all kind of album. The views of three musicians have come together and made sure the sum is far more than its parts.

I'm With Her is another example of modern day female musicians that also work together besides having a solo career. This collaboration is one that convinces me totally, with 'Standing On The Fault Line' as my absolute favourite.
