Earlier this year, Origin Records of the USA released The Bowie Project by The Metropolitan Jazz Octet with vocals by Paul Marinaro. His voice obviously sounds different from Bowie's, you either like it or you don't, but the 11 tracks are lovingly delivered in the style David loved to perform at the beginning as well as at the end of his career, viz. jazz.
Now that we can't expect any new Bowie songs, it's special that his repertoire is released in a variety of genres. David Bowie in Jazz (France 2020 Wagram label) is one such example.
But his songs can increasingly be heard in non-obvious genres such as Gothic (The dark side of David Bowie from 1997 on the German Khazad-Dûm label), Brazilian (Seu Jorge with The life Aquatic studio sessions 2005), A classic Rock tribute to Bowie (2005 EU on Rock Classics), The Starman - Bowie for Chamber Orchestra (217 Coda EUR), Rockabye baby - Lullabye renditions (USA 2014 Rockabye label), where is this going to end? Keep it coming! I like them.
