All The Covers (And More). The Streetwalkin' Cheetahs

Is there something like an overload? Yes, just listen to All The Covers (And More) and you'll find out why it does. The title more or less promises as much, doesn't it? This punk band is around since 1995, bar 10 years somewhere in between and releases all the songs it ever covered in all those years on a double LP. You find a total of 38 songs there.

There's so much energy on this album that my lightbulbs start to burn without me having to do anything. Bright lights all around in the office of WoNo Magazine thanks to this L.A. band. The readers of the blog have already encountered them through the single with Cherie Curry, the The Runaways lead singer, covering 'Cherry Bomb' by The Runaways. The leadsingle exactly tells the story of the album as a whole. Punkrock to the max, no holding back on anything. This is a really, really great and energetic song.

38 Songs, I will admit I still haven't heard them all. I simply do not get to the other side when I start at the beginning, which I prefer to do because the songs are so great. The songs on the album takes you through a host of line ups of the The Streetwalkin' Cheetahs with singer/guitarist Frank Meyer as a constant. As the band explains, it was never a cover band. It did love to play songs by their favourite bands, especially live. And what was recorded at the time, is what you hear, mistakes and all. Resulting in a set of great punk and garage rock songs that all spell excitement.

Most titles don't mean anything to me but you will find some MC5 titles, some The Stooges, just like you will find contributions from Sylvain Sylvain and Wayne Kramer. Just don't be surprised when you play this album too loud the tiles will come flying off your roof. If the roof itself doesn't become unhinged. Don't tell me I didn't warn you! All The Covers (And More) is the realest thing and that is all your need to know.
